Annette Baran

Annette Baran (1927–2010) was a clinical social worker, psychotherapist, and prominent advocate for open adoption who co-wrote the influential 1978 book 'The Adoption Triangle' with Reuben Pannor. Her work is credited with giving early shape to the open-adoption movement by exposing the psychological harm of sealed adoption records on adoptees, birth parents, and adoptive parents. She died on July 11, 2010, at age 83 in Santa Monica, California.
