Amy Parker

Amy Parker is an American fiction writer and author of the short story collections *Beasts and Children* (2016) and *Virgins in Their Beds* (2024). Born in Okinawa, Japan, she spent much of her childhood on diplomatic and military compounds overseas, studied comparative literature at Indiana University, and won a Michener fellowship in fiction from the University of Texas, Austin. She engaged in intensive monastic practice at Tassajara Zen Mountain Center and Green Gulch Farm, received lay ordination in the Soto Zen lineage in 2007, graduated from the Iowa Writers' Workshop in 2012, and currently lives in Wichita with her son.[1][3][8]
