Amy-Jill Levine
Amy-Jill Levine (born 1956) is Rabbi Stanley M. Kessler Distinguished Professor of New Testament and Jewish Studies at Hartford International University for Religion and Peace. A leading scholar of Second Temple Judaism, Jewish-Christian relations, and the historical Jesus, she is known for her work eliminating antisemitic, sexist, and homophobic readings of biblical texts. She was the first Jew to teach New Testament at Rome's Pontifical Biblical Institute and was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 2021.
