Amelia Edwards

Amelia Edwards (1831–1892) was a pioneering British novelist, journalist, traveler, and Egyptologist known as the 'Godmother of Egyptology.' She co-founded the Egypt Exploration Fund in 1882 to protect Egyptian monuments and established the first professorship of Egyptology at University College London through her bequest. Her literary works include ghost stories like 'The Phantom Coach,' novels such as 'Barbara's History,' and the influential travelogue 'A Thousand Miles up the Nile.'
