Ambrose Bierce
Ambrose Bierce was an American author, journalist, and satirist known for his sharp wit and sardonic short stories based on themes of death and horror. He served as a Union officer during the Civil War, an experience that profoundly shaped his writing, and became a prominent figure in San Francisco's literary scene as a columnist and editor. His life ended in mystery when he disappeared in Mexico in 1914.
