Alvin Schwartz
Alvin Schwartz (1927-1992) was an American author and journalist best known for his children's books on folklore, word play, and scary stories, including the controversial Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark trilogy. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he worked as a newspaper reporter, public relations professional, and adjunct English professor before becoming a full-time freelance writer in 1963, producing over fifty books for young readers. He passed away from lymphoma in 1992, the same month his final book, And the Green Grass Grew All Around, was published.[1][3][4][5]
