Alice Howard Harding
Alice Howard Harding, born Alice Howard on September 26, 1871, in New Hampshire, was educated at home by private tutors and later studied abroad before marrying attorney Edward Harding around 1900 or 1909. She became a noted specialist and writer on peonies, authoring 'The Book of the Peony' (1917) and 'Peonies in the Little Garden' (1923), and traveled overseas for her horticultural work. At her death in 1938, several plants including irises, peonies, lilacs, and a rose had been named in her honor.[1][4]
