Alice Hoffman
Alice Hoffman is an American novelist and young-adult writer, born in New York City on March 16, 1952, best known for her 1995 novel Practical Magic, which blends magic realism with elements of irony and non-standard romances. She published her debut novel Property Of in 1977 after earning an MA from Stanford University, and has since authored over thirty novels, often exploring women's identities through realism and the supernatural. Hoffman holds degrees from Adelphi University and Harvard Divinity School, and resides outside Boston.
