Alfred Kadushin

Alfred Kadushin (1916–2014) was a Professor of Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison who established the theoretical framework for social work research as an academic field. Born to Lithuanian Jewish émigrés in New York City, he earned his master's degree from Columbia University and Ph.D. from New York University before serving in World War II and working as a caseworker. He authored 66 journal articles and 6 books on child welfare, social work supervision, and interviewing, becoming the first social work faculty member at his university to receive a Distinguished Professorship in 1979.
