Alfred Erich Senn

Alfred Erich Senn (1932–2016) was an American historian specializing in Eastern European history, particularly Lithuania, and served as a professor of history at the University of Wisconsin–Madison from 1961 until his retirement as professor emeritus in 2008.[1][2][3] He earned a BA from the University of Pennsylvania in 1953 and MA and PhD from Columbia University in 1955 and 1958, respectively, authoring numerous books and articles, including the award-winning 'Gorbachev's Failure in Lithuania'.[3][6] Born in Madison, Wisconsin, to a Swiss father and Lithuanian mother, he was honored with awards like the Officer of the Order of Vytautas the Great and died at home in Madison.[1][6]
