Alex Buchanan

Alex Buchanan is an American visual artist born in Boston, Massachusetts, who studied sculpture, printmaking, and photography at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. After serving four years of active duty in the U.S. Coast Guard, he became known for his maritime-influenced artworks that explore cultural relevance and environmental subjects through humor and poignant metaphors. He lives in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and was a 2020 SMFA at Tufts Traveling Fellow recipient.
