Albert Sydney Hornby

Albert Sydney Hornby (1898–1978) was a pioneering English lexicographer, linguist, and educator who revolutionized English language teaching for foreign learners. He is best known for creating the Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary and for founding the field of situational language teaching in the UK. His work laid the foundation for modern ELT methodologies and inspired the establishment of the A. S. Hornby Trust to support teachers from developing countries.
