Albert Cossery

Albert Cossery (1913–2008) was an Egyptian-born French writer nicknamed 'The Voltaire of the Nile' for his ironic and skeptical worldview. Although he lived most of his life in Paris and wrote exclusively in French, all his novels were set in Egypt or an imaginary Middle Eastern country.
