Alan Gelb
Alan Harold Gelb is an economist born in Durban, South Africa, who earned degrees from the University of Natal and Oxford University. He held academic positions at the University of Essex and Queen's University before joining the World Bank in 1978, where he served as Director of Development Policy, Chief Economist for the Africa Region, and Staff Director for the 1996 World Development Report. Since 2010, he has been a Senior Fellow at the Center for Global Development, researching aid, economic transitions, biometric ID technology, and resource-rich countries.[1][2]
