Gay Talese is an American author born in Ocean City, New Jersey, in 1932 to Italian immigrant parents. He graduated from the University of Alabama, worked as a copyboy at the New York Times, and after army service returned there in 1956, later writing for Esquire, the New Yorker, and others. Credited by Tom Wolfe with creating 'New Journalism,' his bestselling books include The Kingdom and the Power, Honor Thy Father, Unto the Sons, and Thy Neighbor’s Wife.[1][3]
