A. S. Neill
Alexander Sutherland Neill (1883-1973) was a Scottish educator and author best known for founding Summerhill School in 1921, promoting progressive education based on freedom from adult coercion and child self-governance.[1][2][3] He advocated personal freedom for children, challenging conventional schooling through his writings and lectures.[1][4] His seminal book Summerhill: A Radical Approach to Child Rearing (1960) gained worldwide influence, particularly in the free school movement.[3][4]
