A. L. Norton
Lewis Adelbert Norton (born 1819) was a Canadian-born American frontiersman, lawyer, merchant, and miner. After supporting the Patriot side in the Rebellion of 1837–1838 and being banished from Canada, he settled in Illinois, raised a regiment for the Mexican War, and later went to California, where he wrote about his life and travels in *Life and adventures of Col. L.A. Norton* (1887).
