1872 William and Robert Chambers

William Chambers (1800-1883) and his brother Robert Chambers (1802-1871) were Scottish publishers and authors who started as booksellers in Edinburgh in 1819 and founded W. & R. Chambers publishing house in 1832. They produced influential works including educational series like Chambers' Edinburgh Journal, which achieved massive circulation, and contributed to literature, history, science, and geology.
