She is our mother.The words express intimate and profound connection, bringing sense and urgency to the emotional and spiritual reverence we feel in our deepest selves for this wonderful and fascinating and beloved abode of rock and sea and air. More than that, we surrender ourselves to her, for if Earth is our mother, we are her children, her daughters and sons, dependent upon her, in awe of her majesty.The nature of our connection is an imperative, framed by her fragile constancy and our boisterous impermanence. Our connection with her is necessary to human survival.This songbook is intended for by climate strikers and activists, environmentalists, students, and anyone concerned about our planet, and was made for field use: on the day of the march, before or after the march, for personal or group use. The volume is small enough (10 cm x 15 cm) to be carried anywhere - in pocket, handbag, or backpack.This book contains songs, poems, and anthems divided into six major groupings, for the most part following the rhythms of a strike or march day. There are sections for dawn/morning, a group of songs and poems intended to refocus on our commitment to the cause ("Our Vow") , anthems for the march, songs and poems for before and after the strike, laments acknowledging the climate emergency and its effects, and a few evening hymns. To these six groupings are added a handful of gender-inclusive religious hymns.This fight is our burden, our calling, our necessity, the summons to battle that we cannot ignore. We fight the good fight, for our children, for our planet, for the entire human race. Tell the truth of it. Tell the urgency of it. Speak. March. ACT every single day to convey in word and in deed - to family and friends, strangers and enemies - to anyone who will listen - that we must save our planet, or perish.
