An autobiographical journey of Kenny Smith. A child raised in a poor, dysfunctional family household. He survived the impoverished Chicago's Englewood Community, the 1960s' massive civil unrest, the street gang and drug-infested neighborhood, the racist police, and managed to reach success in adulthood. Against all odds, Kenny obtained two degrees, and his dream after college was to help the Englewood Community and influence positive change. This book is an uncensored look at the behind-the-scenes of the politics in Chicago and America, which the only way to describe it is through the phrase: "No Good Deed Goes Unpunished ... "In the mid-1990s, as part of a President Bill Clinton's initiative, Kenny learned how to develop a multimillion-dollar affordable housing project without using a penny of his own money. During his quest, Kenny supported a Black man that he knew personally - a young Senator from Englewood who ran for President of the United States. Later, Kenny found himself thrown in the middle of a national war between two Presidential hopefuls; a Black man and a White man. Kenny had to face the massive corruption and abuse of elected officials, assisted by other community members in Illinois, and more specifically in the City of Chicago. Kenny Smith learned that there's no real difference between Whites and Blacks when it comes to stealing someone's dreams when implementing strategies or laws.
