The Spikes of Coral Reefs is a coming-of-age story that follows a group of kids and their adventures. The tales trace their experiences trekking in the wild, horseracing by the seashore, travelling across cities and continents, as well as figuring out new feelings and a sense of maturity and responsibility. The stories recount the development of their circle of friendship throughout hardships, and how challenges consolidated their bond. They come to learn, both individually and collectively, ways of practising solidarity, democratic decision-making, and sculpting their self-confidence. The story takes place in Palestinian cities and across the Mediterranean, unfolding a large terrain of customs, cultures, and distinct geographies. The Spikes of Coral Reefs is a voyage that begins in childhood and ends in early adulthood, starts in one city, picks up in the next village, and ends with a few borderless chants.
