We, the authors, are sisters with distinctive points of view and sometimes contrary perspectives who are trying to achieve the same goal: keeping diabetes at bay for the rest of our lives.

The ADA (and as a result, most members of the medical community) assume those with prediabetes don't have the fortitude to give up their bad eating habits. They focus on managing - rather than curing - the situation by slowing the progression of the disease rather than extracting the person with prediabetes from the crosshairs of the freight train headed their way.
