Hey MSW! Let's Talk About the Church: Responses to Michael Sean Winters of the National Catholic Reporter (The Christian Left Blogs Book 3)

This book is part of a series of notebooks containing posts from the Christian Left blog, http://xianleft.blogspot.com and Hey Michael Sean! http://heymsw.blogspot.com. From 2008 to 2010, I was a frequent troll on the America Magazine online version, often commenting on Michael Sean Winters' posts. In 2010, he moved to National Catholic Reporter and I began commenting daily there, cross posting my comments on my Christian Left page.. MSW balances his more traditional doctrinal leanings with more liberal politics. I throw radicalism into the mix in both areas. If you are looking for in depth coverage on the culture wars in the Church and politics, there is no better place to look than Michael's column and my comments. I have deleted the links, but have retained his titles, so you can easily find his side of the story by copying the title into your browser with the term NCR.. This volume on the Church responds to entries on the current papacy of Pope Francis, especially the Synods on the Family and his encyclicals; the activities of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, primarily regarding their annual meetings and their reactions to the latest set of revelations on how they covered up child abuse. Other comments include proposals for more radical reform than MSW would support - such as ordaining women and outing asexuality in the clergy; responses to his comments on the religious and Christian left, the Nones who are spiritual but not religious (which is a term used in the recovery movement) and his coverage of the radical right-wing fringe and refusal to cover those of us on the left who have fresh ideas. I have also responded to book reviews on the Church and to his reflections on Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter. The Christian Left blog was originally based on essays from my book, Musings from the Christian Left. It expanded from there, including comments on editorials in the Washington Post, the Catholic Herald newspaper published by the Arlington Diocese and from my Progressive Catholic column on D.C. Examiner website. At some point, Michael's columns and my comments would make a good point-counterpoint collection, but it could only be published by NCR, since they own the rights to Michael Sean's side. This assumes that anyone cares about what my side is. If you buy the book, you will find out if my arguments are worthy. If you have Kindle Unlimited, finding out will cost you nothing. If enough people check them out, paperback editions may follow as something other than my personal notebooks.
