February First Canada Suite contains nine piano solo pieces composed by Canadian pianist Lisa Ruping Cheng. The collection features February First and the Episode portraying various moods with Canadian theme.. The nine titles in this Suite resonate sentiments that are both personal and Canadian.February First : In an early morning of February, snow was falling down like feathers; the omnipresent quietness triggered the mood of light weight melancholy. A prolonged winter feels as heavy as distant memories.February First Episode: As an extention of February First, the Episode reveals the story behind the melancholic tune.Cecilia: Cecilia is every woman in the world who tells stories about love, struggles, joy, and anguish.25 Years of Accidentals: In the world of 21st century, high speed internet accelerated everytihng, leaving us no time to be proactive. Looking back 25 years, life looks like a long timeline full of accidents.Kananaskis Winter: Inspired by Claude Debussy's Des pas sur la neige (Footsteps in the Snow) , Kananaskis WInter describes the eternal beauty of nature featuring the winter scenery in Kananaskis, Alberta, Canada.Lake at Dusk: Out of the imagination of the Okanagan Lake in British Columbia, Canada, Lake at Dusk intends to visualize the interplay between the sea monster and other living creatures arountd the Lake after dark when the sky was pierced with few stars above the low moon.Toccata 2020: Composed right before Covid-19 pandemic swept the world, Toccata 2020 is eerie and agitated, symbolizing a looming crisis. Utterly modern.Toccata 2020 Variation (Virtual Reality) : More or less like an excerpt further developed from the Toccata 2020, the Variation is a standalone piece built on a chromatic section from Toccata 2020. It creates a totally new mood: what does it feel like to be in a space that houses the gigantic cloud computer? Virtual Reality is the alternative name for this piece.Prelude in C Minor: Prelude in C minor portrays the transcendent and sublime feelings evoked by purple-colored mountains in Canmore, Alberta, Canada. Like a prelude, this piece briefly tells an old tale that is reflective with wisdom. It features a sweet, little dance like middle part. The composition style of Lisa Ruping Cheng is greatly influenced by Chopin and Debussy, but at the same time her modern works are reminiscent of Prokofiev's excitement, boldness and humor.. February First, the theme piece of the Suite has been streaming on Spotify and iTune since the fall of 2019. The recording of the entire Suite is expected to be released in 2021 on major streaming platforms.. The difficulty level of this Suite is intermediate to advanced..
