Trends in the tourism market during 2002 pointed to a gradual recovery. However, at the same time there has been an increase in terrorism actions, with the worst cases taking place as from October. The attacks in Bali (Indonesia) and Mombasa (Kenya) , although on different scales regarding the number of lives lost and injuries and damage caused, had the common characteristic of being directed against tourists and tourism facilities. It was therefore recommended that the Tourism Recovery Committee should meet to analyse the current situation and act accordingly. This report offers those actions presented to the meeting by the Secretariat and a summary of the papers presented during the third meeting of the Tourism Recovery Committee.
