The Pantagruel Syndrome: T1 Turin Triennial Threemuseums

The title of the catalogue takes its inspiration from the French writer François Rabelais' character Pantagruel, the grotesque protagonist at the limits of absurdity. Here Pantagruel is a metaphor for contemporary society - characterized by a tension toward change and a healthy desire for knowledge, on the one hand, and fragility and fear on the other. Featuring works by 75 young artists as well as an in-depth section that pays homage to two mid-career artists - Takashi Murakami and Doris Salcedo - the volume explores this "syndrome" through paintings, sculpture, photography, installation, video, performance, sound projects and collective and anonymous projects by artists from around the world who explore the excess of our Pantagruelian universe.
