In 1957, twenty-two year old Jenny leaves her home to become a midwife in a deprived nursing convent helping poor pregnant mothers coping with harsh living conditions.<p>With Nonnatus House scheduled for demolition, Jenny, Chummy, and Sister Julienne search for a new location nearby, while Jennyâ‚‚s relationship with Alec continues to blossom. But an outbreak of polio affects the nurses and nuns more than they could have imagined.
