Once apon -a- time when we were all young and the world was fresh and new we met our boy friends at the local church dances. A set of drums, a guitar and a piano and the Saturday night hop at the Church Hall was the place to be. I had to catch a bus to get there and I stood the whole 15 minute ride so that my carefully starched and ironed petticoats would still be standing proud when I arrived to find Prince Charming. He, I remember, had red hair, freckles, and came up to my shoulder. He rarely spoke except to ask me to dance but that was enough. I, at 14, had a boyfriend. But now, now that I'm a Granma, were do I go to find a second chance at love? It's all a bit scary out there. Blind dates and family introductions? I don't think so. My kids would be totally surprised to find that I was lonely and longed for a kiss, a cuddle and what ever else might hopefully follow ." Mum" they would say "you've got your garden and your dog. I thought you had a full life." and I have but it isn't enough. If they were asked they would certainly not suggest that I use the internet or a dating site. I can well imagine the cries of " You don't know who you might meet !" That of course is what makes it such fun. I entered this world an innocent novice but a hopeful one. If you decide to follow in my tracks you will be, at least, able to learn from my mistakes, have some fun and who knows you might meet the love of your life.
