Poetry. THE LOCUST DIAGRAMS is based on a month-long sequence of dreams. --I would be in some mesmerizing place like Times Square, or an Old World manor house, or a library of famous authors, and then suddenly Times Square would turn into a moldering cardboard world, the library of famous authors would be covered in locusts, etc. After these calamities, children (who had been given a glimpse of something Eternal and been transfigured by it) would dance into the barren space left by the wrecked monument, sow glowing seeds into colorless dust and ashes, and then point hopeless masses of people toward a rising sun.
