Great Hiking Guide

We have used Cicerone books before. The one describing walks in the Italian Dolomites was outstanding. The Julian alps book is also excellent. This book provides very good walk descriptions including schematic maps. The introductory paragraphs explain why I would want to do a given walk. The detailed walk descriptions are also very good. Without this book it would be very difficult to self plan a walking itinerary in the Julian alps. I was not aware of the gateway villages described in the book where I would best stay for the majority of my walks. Introductory material as to how to get there and how to get around is also vary good. Read more
