This four day conference (September 16-19, 1991) consisted of 14 sessions covering 15 different subjects and a wide range of issues. Increased concern was evidenced in the areas of long term chemical and mechanical stability, such as oxidation, environmental embrittlement, and creep, which were addressed in three separate sessions. Considerable attention was focused on processing and fabrication of titanium aluminides based on Ti 3Al and TiAl. A sharp increase in interest in beryllides was also apparent. This proceedings volume is divided into sections on alloy stability, phase transformations, deformation, mechanical properties, point defects and dislocations, microstructure, high temperature deformation and mechanical properties, creep and superplasticity, fatigue and fracture, oxidation and environmental embrittlement, composites, and novel processing.
