The Klechek family recently emigrated from the Czech Republic to Britain where Mr. Klechek got a job as a teacher. Unfortunately, not everyone welcomes them with open arms. As they try to settle in, the family is plagued by a series of questions: Who is the crazy old lady in the tattered clothes? Why is their new landlord so unpleasant? Old legends are reenacted as brother and sister Jan and Marie unearth shady secrets in a desperate bid to save their family from eviction.
