Awesome book, bravest writer around

An amazing book detailing the perils for migrants when they travel from the countries below Mexico on their way to el norte. I can't say enough about the courage of the writer, who put himself in extremely dangerous situations to get this information--in a country where scores of journalists have been murdered or disappeared for the same sort of reporting. Even more poignant of late, given the savagery toward journalists of those who can't take a joke and/or wish to remain in the shadows. The best of journalism--a painful read, though it should be read by everyone, especially those who are directly impacting immigration politics (well, that's you and me as well as the politicians). I hope Mr. Martinez gets heaps of awards for his skills, dedication and compassion. Read more
