This is revised edition, two chapters post 2012 have been added. This is the story of sightings and incidents while wild camping in the Sohthern Tanzanian Parks of Selous, Ruana and Mikumi. These less well visited parks presented challenges - tracks not as well maintained as their Northern counterparts, long distances to travel and in the searing heat of the south fresh food supplies quickly perished. However some camps could be set up away from designated areas, often on tbe shores of lakes teeming with fish which attracted a multitude of birds from Fish Eagles to the diminutive Malachite Kingfisher. Those waters were also alive with Hippos and Crocodiles meaning the campers had to meep a wary eye on the shore in addition to monktoring the bush for danger from the likes of Lion, Elephant or Buffalo. There were noticeable differences in bird and anmal species and vegetation compared to the famous parks of North Tanzania such as Seregeti, resulting in unique experiences.
