Thilar swung his ax, cleaving the head of the goblin in two and swung round, hearing the sounds of battle from behind him, and saw she has slain his guards. Once his friend, though now his enemy, the eyes of Merlara blazed with a hatred found only in the depths of hells long since forgotten. She stalked towards him like a tiger stalks its prey, and got ready to strike. Thilar called upon the powers embedded in him, and sent a wave of energy at her. She easily sidestepped this and struck. Thilar caught her blade on the edge of his ax, steel grinding into steel with a screeching noise like that of a wounded dragon. Without seeming to move, Merlara swiped his legs from underneath him, and sent Thilar tumbling to the ground in a heap of flesh. She rose to her full height, and with her entire weight thrown into it, sent her sword sliding down at the chest of who once used to be her friend. Thilar caught the blade between his armored palms, and pushed with all his might, the sword threatening to impale him with a deadly fervor.
