The Bad Butterfly is the first volume in the popular "Billie B. Brown" series about a bold, charismatic girl who's not afraid to question convention. With her new tutu, Billie imagines becoming a famous ballerina, along with her best friend, Jack. Billie and Jack attend the same ballet class, and they both adore their teacher, Miss Dainty. When she asks the girls to dance like delicate butterflies and the boys to stomp like trolls, Billie hopes to impress Miss Dainty by zooming around the room full speed, which leads to an inevitable crash. Disappointed in her graceless tumble, Billie is ready to admit defeat until Jack promises to help her.
