The killing spree had left eight dead! The buzzards, huge and ominous, circled effortlessly overhead as Sheriff Dan Guthry opened his eyes. His left arm felt lifeless, his shirtsleeve was matted with blood and he lay where his prisoner, Sul Rich, had left him for dead. Dan had been careless. The outlaw had a day's start on him by now. Dan hated the man to whom savagery was a way of life. Three weeks before, Sul Rich had gunned down the parson and raped and murdered his daughter. Six more killings followed before Dan captured Rich. Now the murderer was on the loose for a second time - all because Dan had slipped up! The Sheriff forced himself to rise. Sul Rich had to be stopped before he struck again. It was Dan's last chance to avenge the dead and clear his own name!
