Waylaid at gunpoint by Isham Scarborough and his brother Red, Hall McIvor insists that he is just riding through and has no knowledge of a feud between the Scarboroughs and the Bassetts. When Wahoo Meshackatee becomes a prisoner too, he warns Hall to simply join the Scarboroughs, but Hall refuses.
