Throughout history, in various cultures, states of ecstatic trance provide a means of gaining spiritual visions and special powers. In Brazil, a large number of Brazilians practiced a secret religion known as Macumba that involved possession of worshipers by their gods. There is an initiation ceremony where the priest decides which god to invoke, and prescribes the appropriate ceremony. During worship, drumming and dance encourage worshipers to go into trance-states in which allows them to open themselves to possession. On coming out of their trance, they usually know nothing of what has happened during the ceremony, but their behavior is often changed. MACUMBA is a paranormal suspense thriller beyond the scope of the current market of paranormal thrillers. It is a story about overcoming personal obstacles, finding love, deceit and the ultimate truth.
