Begun just five years after the end of World War II, the Korean War saw some of the most arduous fighting ever encountered by the U.S. military. Such names as Inchon, Chosin Reservoir, Pusan Perimeter, Heartbreak Ridge, and others live on as memorials to the brave soldiers who were sent to fight half a world away. Yet despite the many bitter battles fought in sweltering heat and freezing cold, the Korean War ended three years after it had begun with neither side able to claim victory.
