Island Drummer

This is a captivating and thought-provoking adventure set in 1985. While most of the free world is enjoying peace, the United States is in a prolonged and deadly war - and the United States is losing. The enemy strikes often from the air and from the sea with murderous precision as it spreads its deadly arsenal -- drugs. In Cuba, Fidel Castro did not expect that the swift changes in command in the Soviet Union would deeply impact his country's decaying economy. To avoid economic failure, Castro is about to become a major player in drug trafficking by providing drug lords with a new, innovative delivery device. He calls for a meeting to be held on December 24th. The President of the United States gives the order to activate a plan to destroy Castro,code named "Operation Yuletide." One man, Daniel J. O'Brien, is selected to design and execute the plan. Simultaneously, a Colonel serving in Castro's secret police, and his brother-in-law, a pilot, are making plans to escape the island with their families. They contact the CIA for protection and asylum, triggering a high-level military communication network code named "Christmas Tree."
