Jayleigh wants to be a blues singer. She thinks music, breathes music, narrates some of her most poignant memories to music - not always the blues, but great tunes. She doesn't necessarily talk about her home life, since there is so much else going on. After all, home may be where her story started, but for teen-ager Jayleigh, home was where she slept, where she cooks because her mom doesn't like to, and tries not to notice that her father had died too young ... Caught between losing belief in childhood dreams too early, trying to establish and maintain her independence, and wishing she could believe anything might be possible, Jayleigh talks about her experiences with the work, heartaches, autism, learning, coping, the pitfalls and the joys of life-as-she-knows-it, while growing up in a smallish blue-collar town.
