Seventeen, year old Peyton has a major paper to write, she needs the scholarship money. But she has no idea where to begin. Since her Grandma Mimi was such a great story teller she takes a drive to see what help Mimi might offer. After a day of chit-chatting about one of her distant relatives Peyton is uncertain of how this story will ever win her a scholarship. Mimi, on the other hand, is sure that the story of her Aunt Laudell, lovingly known as Aunt Doll, is a winning story. Even though outwardly she appeared to be a spinster with no real contributions to society, Mimi knew that Laudell was a strong woman who did more than most anyone knew. Mimi herself once questioned the value of this seemingly unassuming woman but after a lifetime of walking in her Aunt Doll's shoes, she understood that she really was a remarkable woman. Now Mimi would take this opportunity to make sure her Aunt Doll's life, would not be forgotten. Mimi takes her granddaughter on a journey to her childhood vacation spots and through her own life challenges; dealing with her aging parents and their eventual death, how family relationships change over time and a walk through the fonder times, down memory lane.
