In this sequel to A Special Time in Clear Creek, Ollie Fensterwall decides to host a Halloween party in an attempt to get Melanie Jacobson-the girl he loves who left town unexpectedly-to return to Clear Creek for a visit. However, before the party can be successful, Ollie soon discovers he must again deal with his disruptive adversary, Corky Stevens, and the new girl on the block, the mysterious Aggie Bard, who have their own plans for Ollie's party. In an effort to help overcome the obstacles he encounters, Ollie enlists the help of a couple of his friends and the special assistance of his German Shepherd, Patches. After some doubt as to Melanie attending the party, she arrives in town and unbeknownst to Ollie has some significant news for him about her personal life in this absorbing, suspenseful and sometimes humorous story.
