Just months after Rebekah Roberts was born, her mother, a Hasidic Jew from Brooklyn, abandoned her Christian boyfriend and newborn baby for her religion. After college Rebekah moves to New York City to follow her dream of becoming a reporter. Covering the murder of a Hasidic woman, she learns that since the NYPD kowtows to the powerful ultra-Orthodox community, there will be no autopsy and the killer may get away with murder.
