Yakima Henry is hunting wild horses with Lewis Shackleford when they're attacked by desperadoes. A mysterious gunman sends the thieves running, but when they go to thank their savior, he's dead — with a large poke of gold amongst his gear. Yakima decides to take the gold to his family. In the snowy Wyoming mountains, even around Christmas, Yakima will have to fight to save himself and his companions from predators both animal and human.
