Future's End is a major event that crosses through the entire DC universe & 2 main timelines- one 5 years in the future, the other 25 or so. Batman Beyond is sent back in time to try & stop Batman's O.M.A.C. program & Mr. Terrific from creating the demise & assimilation of nearly every hero & villain by a cybernetic combination of creatures reminiscent of the Terminator, the Borg, and a multitude of Brainiacs from destroying all life on Earth. When Batman Beyond returns to the past, he quickly realizes that something went wrong- he wasn't sent far enough back, & the beginning of the end is already in motion. In the future, even Superman fell & they cut open his head & replaced his brain with an O.M.A.C. control module & his legs with spider-like crawlers. I'd recommend reading all of it, as it's pretty wild. Oh and everyone, and I do mean EVERYONE dies. Even Bruce Wayne. Read more
