Andrea Cremer's latest novel picks up immediately after Rift (Philomel, 2012/Voya October 2012) left off. The Order of Conatus is in disarray, and Ember and the rebels have fled to Europe to try to find allies. Lady Eira has taken full power with the aid of the supernatural Lord Bosque. She has begun a reign of terror—killing all those who hesitate to join her ranks. Things seem hopeless for the rebels until Ember's sister seeks asylum at Tearmun after being found to be pregnant on her wedding night.
