Thousands of children die every year in this country due to unintentional injury. Many of them preventable. Child Safety Made Easy is an easy to read resource that covers many areas of child safety including: car, pool, firearms, baby equipment, child's room and toys, kitchen, bedrooms, bathrooms, outdoors, holidays, general and pets. It is written in brief one to two line tips so that it can be read at short intervals. It's a perfect shower gift, welcome baby gift, stocking stuffer or grandparent and childcare provider gift. Some tips from the book include: * Get down on your hands and knees to better observe what is at baby's level. * Miniblind and drapery cords must be tied up or cut off and kept out of child's reach - Children can become entangled in cords and strangle. * Check the tension on your garage door opener - It should reverse when it hits something. * Empty buckets immediately after use and turn them upside down to avoid a potential drowning. * Don't jiggle, shake or throw baby in the air - Even when done playfully a baby can be seriously injured by the jarring motion. * Never leave children alone around water - They can drown in less than an inch of water. * Check [crib] mattress for holes - Baby can pull material out and choke if swallowed. * Don't use pillows in baby's crib - They can cause suffocation. * Never leave baby unattended on a water bed - An infant can roll over and suffocate. * Invite your local police department to give a talk to a group of parents regarding child safety and abduction. * Remove hats and clothing with strings when child is playing on gym equipment - Child can become entangled and strangle. * Pools should have a five foot high fence around them with a locking gate or a safety cover. * Keep objects not in use out of the pool - Children will go in the water if they want something they see floating in it.
