Time: Reaching for Tomorrow

ESL/ESOL students can increase reading comprehension and oral and writing skills as they explore many facets of American culture. Forty articles from TIME magazine present such topics as education, the environment, science and technology, health, sports, fashion, and many others. Prereading for each article includes definitions of difficult words and phonetic transcriptions of words which students may find hard to pronounce. The activities, exercises, and questions encourage and aid comprehension. Audiocassettes provide recordings of selected articles to help learners practice listening to the kinds of reports they will encounter in professional and academic situations and the media.
